A benefit of having qualification questions, before the employment application is presented, is to help focus on applicants that possess minimum qualifications for the position. Implementing a ‘Hard Stop’ will auto-reject (knock-out) these applicants, with a polite message that they did not meet the position’s minimum qualifications. If 'Hard Stop' is not selected, the system will allow the candidate to continue to the employment application and red flag the Qualification Question line item in their application process.

Use an ‘Alert’ if you'd like to receive an email notification that the candidate answered the question "wrong".   This is great for questions like "Have you previously been employed with us?".  You can set the expected answer to 'no'; then set an alert so that if they answer 'yes', you receive an email alert.  This way you'll be notified to check for eligibility for rehire, etc. 

Delivery of Qualification Questions can be refined using filters. Filters can be a combination of Company, Job, Department, Location, Exemption, or Shift (for example: Full-time nurses located in California), or may apply to all new applicants company-wide (enterprise).

Minimum qualification questions are placed in the application process during your organization's initial OnShift Employ setup.  Additional qualification question stages can be added, please contact your Customer Service Representative to request a change.

Review existing Job Qualification Questions for an Opening


From Manage System tab visit Openings - click on the blue question mark icon .




Adding Job Qualification Questions (or Knockout Questions)

From Manage System -  hover and choose Job Qualification Questions from the list



Add a question - click on the green 'New' button (bottom) left or the green circled plus sign (upper right corner) to add a new question.

Edit a current question - click on the pencil icon

Delete a question - click on Trashcan icon  (Full/Client Admin only)


Be aware adding, deleting or editing a question may affect larger companies with multi-brand and/or locations. Be sure to confirm with those recruiters before committing changes or double check your question's settings.




Re-Order (drop and drag order of questions)

→ Manage Systems
→ Job Qualification Questions
→ Unlock the "Enable Sort" padlock icon in 
→ Click and drag your question where you would like it
→ "re-lock" the padlock
