TEXT MESSAGING

Connect With Applicants Faster Than Ever Before!

For existing Employ clients, please reach out to your Client Support rep or send an email to support@onshift.com to enable texting feature.

Employ text message communication will allow recruiters and hiring managers to quickly connect with job applicants to efficiently move them through your organization's hiring process.

Send an SMS (short message service) of up to 140 characters directly from Employ from “Messages”.

Applicants/Candidates must have the agreement box checked on their profile to receive texts .

The messaging system will open as a text for those that select Text Messaging as their preferred contact method and checked the agreement box.

Lets send a message!

From candidate’s application:
1. Click the plus button next to Messages
2. Select a template
3. Click Load template or compose a message up to 140 character
→ Add a variable (optional)
→ To delay a message make a selection in the Send dropdown menu
4. Click Send Message

The entire text conversation is recorded in the conversation log.

Create text message templates

Text message templates can be added to the any email Message Templates (Manage System >> Message Templates) and may include variable to pull in the candidate’s name, position title, etc., as with email messaging.

Note: Applicants/Candidates must have the box checked to receive texts.

  • If the applicant did not sign up for texting at the inception of his/her candidate profile creation, they will not receive text messages.

  • If applicant/candidate select text as preferred, but do not check the box, the system will revert to email.

  • If they at some point the applicant/candidate unchecks the agreement box, the system will revert their messages to email.

  • If applicant/candidate reply STOP, the system will revert it to email, BUT the only way to get back to receiving texts again for that sending number is to reply START again.

Bulk texting (applications tab)

Employ communicates with job candidates based on their preferences. If a candidate prefers email, they will only get emails, and if they prefer texting, they will only get text messages. When sending messages to many candidates at once, it's crucial to include content in both the email and text message. Importantly, if you forget to fill in either the email or text message box, the candidates who prefer that communication method won't receive anything. This ensures that candidates receive messages the way they want and emphasizes the need to provide content for both communication channels.
